EGR is a family business, founded by brothers Greg and Rod Horwill. Beginning at the family home in the suburbs of Melbourne, the business commenced by producing acrylic nest of tables from reject acrylic sheet purchased from Nylex, where their father Ted (Edward) worked. The tables were then sold to interior design shops around Melbourne.
In 1973 the family relocated to Brisbane and Greg borrowed $2000.00 from the Commercial Bank of Australia to assist the business. It was in that year that EGR was formally registered, using the initials of the brothers Greg and Rod and their father Edward.
EGR grew quickly and additional acrylic fabricated products such as Point of Purchase display stands, mirror surrounds, and signage were introduced and EGR Display was born.
Ten years after the company was registered, in 1983, EGR Automotive was established to meet a growing demand for protective covers for quartz halogen headlights.
